ARBS is a biannual exhibition directly targeting the refrigeration, airconditioning & building services industry; showcasing the very latest technologies, products and trends, in an atmosphere that brings together all participants of the industry. With over 200 national and international exhibitors, informative seminars, new product launches, and the largest knowledge base for anything HVAC & R and building services. Held in Melbourne over 3 days of April, the attendance figures represent a 25.8% increase over ARBS 2004 (Melbourne) - in the vicinity of 6,750 visitors in total.

JAVAC was promoted in full height, displaying a range of vacuum pumps, recovery equipment, automated & fully programmable charging stations and leak detectors. The spotlight was on the launch and first public viewing of 3 products:

  1. VECTOR - the latest in 2 stage high vacuum technology
  2. Minivac 2 - one of the smallest 2 stage vacuum pumps on the market
  3. PCS-2 - the newest and one of the lightest portable charging stations

All three products created a definite point of interest, with a keen focus on the size and quality of the JAVAC Minivac 2. Visitors finding it ideal for many of their applications.
The unique features of the PCS-2 and VECTOR also attracted a high level of interest and enquiry.

More on these products in the following articles within this newsletter.

JAVAC would like to congratulate the following winners of the product draw promoted during the ARBS expo:

Minivac 2

Proof that good things do come in small packages!

image

To fill the market's need for a reliable, compact 2 stage vacuum pump, JAVAC has introduced the Minivac 2 vacuum pump - offering reliable performance it is ideally suited for light duty or emergency jobs.

The 'MV2' is a two-stage 28 litre per minute vacuum pump capable of a 38 micron (0.038mbar) ultimate vacuum. Suitable for most refrigerants this light weight, 4.5Kg unit is versatile when endeavouring to reach those inconvenient work areas such as remote plant rooms or roof tops.

Big features of the Minivac

  • Anti-oil return design - The air passage is designed to prevent pump oil from returning to contaminate the chamber and pipeline, after the pump has stopped.
  • Environment protection design - Featuring a built-in device to eliminate oil mist and an oil-gas separator at the air exhaust outlet to reduce oil contamination in the air exhaust
  • Inlet fittings to suit 1/4 Flare & 1/2" ACME

The JAVAC MV2 is an ideal addition to any refrigeration serviceman's equipment, and priced at less than $250 it's one little gem!

PCS-2

The newest release in portable charging stations

image

Following a successful line of refrigerant charging stations JAVAC launches the latest in portable technology - the PCS-2. Weighing under 10kg this multi function refrigeration work station is the ideal tool for any on-site service application.

PCS-2 Features

  • Procharge II digital scales, which conveniently fold into the casing of the unit, for ease of storage and transportability. The scales are removable to accommodate the larger bottles.
  • Minivac 2 boasting a 28 litre/min 38 micron vacuum pump. The pump is enclosed within the structure of the unit, with accessibility for quick and easy access for oil changes.
  • 63mm high and low pressure gauges, set at the top of the unit for clear visibility with refrigerant scale readings of R134a, R22 and R410a.
  • 72" Goodyear Galaxy high & low side 1/4 SAE hoses provide greater flexibility

R410a & R134a adaptors are a STANDARD feature with the PCS-2...

JAVAC don't leave you in the lurch - the PCS-2 can be used on various systems for low, medium and high pressure refrigerants such as R134a for automotive or domestic applications; R22 for small commercial and domestic jobs; and R410a for small to medium applications.

JAVAC have applied their 'big' machine know-how into one of the smallest and lightest machines in the market. The PCS-2 has been researched and built in Australia by the name that's stood the test of time - JAVAC.

Oil's ain't Oils!

Why your pump needs Genuine JAVAC Oil.

image

It is extremely important to operate your vacuum pump using the correct viscosity oil as those which are either thinner or thicker, will cause damage and operational issues.

Oil Must be Changed When Contaminated

Oil contamination is usually indicated by poor vacuum reading, or a grey or milky appearance. Should liquids be accidentally allowed into the pump CHANGE OIL IMMEDIATELY. Your JAVAC High Vacuum Pump is a precision unit and oil is less expensive than pump service and repairs.

We take pride in every JAVAC Vacuum Pump and ensure you of our long-term interest in our product's reliability. To ensure your continued satisfaction, JAVAC highly recommends the following oils for each model vacuum pump:

Tips n' Tricks

Experiencing Poor Vacuum?

Ultimate vacuum will not be instantaneous. It is relative to pump capacity and system size. If it appears the rotary pump is not achieving high vacuum, check as follows:

  1. Oil level correct when pumping.
  2. All fitting hoses are tight and valves shut.

If no improvement is achieved, check with a known good McLeod gauge or electronic gauge as follows:

  1. Remove pump from system.
  2. Connect gauge to suction fitting positively sealed.
  3. Run pump. A McLeod gauge should indicate a vacuum of between 50 and 1 micron. An electronic gauge will show approximately 250 to 20 micron after five minutes, depending on type of pump.

Cooling the recovery cylinder with your JAVAC XTR Pro or EVO unit

Your XTR Pro or EVO Series recovery unit can be used to PRE-cool (or SUB-cool) the recovery cylinder if the head pressure is too high to complete the recovery process. This can occur when working with certain refrigerants with a high vapour pressure in high ambient temperatures.

If the recovery process stalls out because of high head pressure, stop the recovery unit, shut off the hose valves and reconfigure the setup as shown below. This can also be done before starting the recovery process but it may have marginal long term effect.
NOTE: This will only work if there is at least 5 Kg of liquid in the recovery cylinder to develop the necessary pressure differential required.

POWER ON the recovery unit and ROTATE the DISCHARGE Valve (V3) to achieve a pressure differential of at least 700 Kpa between the LP Gauge and the HP Gauge. KEEP THE HP BELOW 2500 Kpa on the HP Gauge to ensure that the HP Cut-Off Switch will not actuate.

After several minutes of running, the cylinder will be cold. POWER OFF the recovery unit and reconfigure the setup for NORMAL RECOVERY. Repeat as needed.
